Risk of Sick Cleaner Wrasse?

I think my cleaner wrasse may be sick. Lately he hides a lot, and isn't as energetic or interactive with the other fish. Is there any harm in leaving him in if he is sick? There are no visible signs of sickness, except for slight dulling of color in the head region. Please help me out.

In many cases cleaner wrasses do not last long in the aquarium. Many times it has to do with their eating habits and not getting enough nourishments. Try different foods (if you haven't already). Keep an eye on him so you can pull him out if necessary should he pass on.

If the coloring you see is of the yellowish variety that is normal on the Pacific Cleaner Wrasse. Some have a yellow head some don't. The other question is how long you had it and does it eat at all and what? All of my cleaners will eat live and frozen brine, mysis shrimp, blackworms live, and my oldest 2 are now about 5 years old. They are hard to keep but once going well they do fine.

they definately need to eat a variety to keep healthy. Mine eats anything brine, mysis, seaweed, spirulina, and anything else it can fit in its mouth.

what are your tank parameters?
cleaner wrasses are delicate and are one of the first to show signs of deteriorating water quality, usually with lack of energy- not riding the top water currents etc.
check your water, it might be that.
also is he new? there are addn'l problems with acclimating these fish to aquariums.
