What modules do you run with your RKL? Are you happy with the product? I am considering one with the SL1 Module. The only reason I am considering it and not doing it is because all I would really need one for is a pH controller. I don't think I would use any of the computer programs or anything like that. My lights are on timers and I use VorTech's so they are already controlled. I might use the feature that shuts off MH when the temp gets too high, but rarely does my tank get hot enough to warrant a controller.

I'm along for the ride on this thread. I am looking/ researching a controller/monitor for my tank as well. I'll be interested to know about this product more too.

Don't' want to be a party poo-per, but if you honestly want a good expandable controller look Apex and move RKL to the bottom of the list.....The Apex has a module that expands the control ability of your Vortechs that even their own controller can't do.......With that said, maybe not today or tomorrow, but your needs might change, and Apex has way more to offer than what your looking at. Might be better price as we speak, but again you get what you pay for.....If you do a little searching you'll see most do trade these off and either upgrade to an Apex or to a Profilux......Reliability is key....I can't remember who it was on here, but they bought the RK, and issues, and that person isn't alone......Customer support is lacking as well, and with something of this nature customer support is key......

The Apex Jr.....$250.00

Hmmmm I had mentioned about the Vortech controller.....Again with a little searching you'll find that this little gadget here will only expand the control ability of your Vortechs, beyond what you have now....

Apex Wireless Expansion Module for Vortech $129.00 They also have the module for Tunze as well.....
Again everyone has their own opinion, but even if you find the controller comparison chart that's out there, and look at the units across the board as to what features and such are available, you'll see your not comparing apples to apples at this point of the game.....

Hmmm we can go on.....Timers....they suck up a lot of outlet space....Over time on MH's for a fact MH's kill them and using a dedicated controller with a bus bar so you have the reliability to know things are working.....With the Apex you have all this in 1 package...
http://Features: •Apex Jr module and temperature probe •Built-in Ethernet port — Has all the same monitoring, control and configuration features of the Apex and Apex Lite •iPhone application •Email or text message alarms •Resettable circuit breaker for over current protection •True data logging on all monitor probes and outlets •Four independently controllable 120V outlets — 8 Amps each and total current must be less than 15 Amps •All AquaBus accessories work with the Apex Jr •Plug and Play AquaBus expansion •Two-port AquaBus hub for expansion – Expandable up to five AquaBus accessories •Simple firmware updates over Ethernet •Four Mounting Holes for easy installation •Compact custom aluminum enclosure (7.5 x 3.75 x 1.8 in.)
The RKL options.......
http://The new ReefKeeper Lite is a big change to business as usual! It's small, expandable and perfect for nano tanks, beginners, and people looking for a mid level controller! The ReefKeeper Lite or RKL as it's known here, has a 5 (mechanical) button interface and a larger 16 x 2 LCD display for easy readability. While some of the advanced modules and features of the RKE are not available for the RKL, it will have more than enough power to monitor and control single tank systems, as well as small to mid sized tanks alike! The RKL is the only controller under $120 that offers four outlets and temperature control while still providing the customer an upgrade path as their system needs grow! With up to four modules, the ReefKeeper Lite controller is perfect for streamlining your tank without breaking the bank! Any system combination you purchase can be added to, up to the four module limit. The RKL can interface with ANY of the Digital Aquatics modules! Expandable The ReefKeeper Lite can interface with up to 4 modules in almost any configuration you'd like. That's over 15 million possible combinations! Data Reporting The ReefKeeper Lite can report the min, max and average over the last 1 hour for all inputs and outputs. 5 Button Interface The ReefKeeper Lite has a 5 button interface; a big improvement over traditional 3 button interfaces that are currently used for entry level controllers! 16 Dedicated Timers You can set up to 16 unique timers with day of week capability as well other advanced features. Audible and Visual feedback With a built in speaker the ReefKeeper Lite offers audible as well as visual feedback. 16 Dedicated Alarms Get Alerted! Set alarms to alert you of almost any event in your system that you need to know about. With the optional NET module you can get email or TXT alerts to your cell phone.
Again you get what you pay for....Here you have to buy adition modules....More clutter IMO......I do see they have a module that talks about working with Tunze, but what about Vortech's......
