ro/di machine

does anyone know anything about ro/di water machines? I recently bought a Kent Marine Maxxima 50. I don't understand the purpose of so much waste water. They say there will be 150 gallons of waste water per 50 gallons of usable water per day. That is a lot of waste water. Does anyone have any ideas or experiences on what to do with the waste water.

I use the waste and wash clothes with it. Others do the same and many also water their indoor plants and even plumb it outside to water their garden. Those that have no use whatever just direct it to the drain.

That waste water is not much good for anything. It has very high levels of dissolved metals and minerals. I don't recommend watering any sensitive plants with it, as the minerals might cause a problem. You should be able to water shrubs and trees with it. I recommend you dump it down the drain. A RO filter works by passing water through a membrane that only lets certain sized particles through it. Since H2O molecules are very small, it only lets those through (with a few exceptions). What doesn't get through is the waste water.
