RO/DI question

Ok so this is prolly a stupid question but when they say that the RO/DI system makes 50 gpd what exactly does that mean. Does it mean that if i leave the water running it will make 50 gallons in a 24 hour period? I am just kinda confused on the whole RO/DI system.

Just watch because it could take longer depending on water temperature, water TDS, and perfomance of your membranes and filters. I guess a better way is should be put is that it is rated for 50gpd.

It's against the rules to give links, but all you have to look for is a: RO/DI 4-6 Stage unit. it doesn't matter what gpd it is.

k...thanks aztec. some people suggested just to buy a pur or brita filter pitcher. when i researched specs...it doesn't remove all water imputrities as well as i would like it to. **************
Please don't ask for more info to be emailed as this tends to abuse the forum rules. 1Journeyman

i'd be a bit wary of what it claims it will produce though. I can't remember if my unit is supposed to produce 50 or 75 gpd, but in 12 hours it generally won't even fill up a 5 gallon bucket, so I don't know what to think about that...

yes, nothing removes impurities as good as ro/di unit. Although there's just RO units. But RO/DI units takes it a step further in filtration with the last DI cartridge.
You can google "the filter guys" they have good ones also Kent's Maximas are good.

I like the coralife pureflo II. I have the 50 gpd model ro/di and it has performed very well and if you search it well, you can get it for $128. Also the cartridges are cheap and easy to find.

Adding a stupid question. Does everyone put these under the sink and just let them run into a bucket all day long? How are they installed?

Some hook them up to a basement or wash room utility sink or water lines that feed you washer dryer. Also have seen people run them directly from there kitchen sink. The unit can be permanently mounted or mounted to where you need to pull the line out and hook it to your sink. Yes, they just hook up, turn on, and let it run. Some have built systems that have a float valve on them to stop the flow when the container they are filling gets full. If you have a 75 gallon per day unit. It will take 24 hours or more to fill a 75 gallon container.
