RO/DI Question

Hi,
Sometimes I have a senior moment and that's when I ask these silly questions, My question is when I buy a RO/DI unit it says 75 gallons a day or 150 gallons a day do you need to store that much water or is it used like on demand like you would use your sink in your house. Thanks

You only make what you need. The GPD just refers to how long it takes to make what you need. If you have a 50GPD and you need 20 gallons then it's going to take about ten hours to make your 20 gallons. If you had a 150 GPD then it would only take three and a half hours.

I'm not understanding how you want to use it. If you have 75GPD and you turn it on you'll get something between a fast drip and a steady stream of water. It'll take about 20 minutes to fill a gallon container. You don't have to store the water but it's not going to be practical to stand there while you fill a 10 gallon container.

ok for now I want to use it for top off but I guess when I do water changes I will have to wait for it to make say 30 or 40 gallons is that what your talking about and I guess that's when I need to put it in a clean drum or container so I can mix my salt, I just thought I can turn on the tap and clean unrestricted flow will come out like the whole 150 gallons is ready to use all the time thanks
