RO/DI Question?

I am going to purchase an RO/DI unit and wanted to know if these units remove chlorine as well. When using these units do you add any chemicals to the water before you add it to the tank?

RO/DI Filters DO remove chlorine. They remove everything! (Well, 99.8% of everything) ;) Including everything good that you may want in your water! I have no opinion about adding supplements to replace those though.

They do make a few supplements that you can add to your RO/DI water. I have never used them but I'm thinking of giving them a try. You could try looking in a pet magazine or try online. Hope this helps you out.

I add salt. Most marine salt mixes are laced with chemistry elements as well as ph buffers (especially in high end scientific grade mixed, usually not stocked in stores though are available on order).
Also since the ro/di filter is so effective it will also remove desolved oxegon. I make my water add the salt mix completely. Add a heater and an air stone. Let is sit for a day to add oxygen and to bring the temp to the tank temp. I check the ph for 8.0 to 8.3. If you are low add baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) to raise the ph to the right level. Add to the tank.

Thanks for the reply's. Now I know for sure that I'll start using the RO/DI water. Wasn't sure if it removed the chlorine. All the money I'd save on adding chlorine remove with justify the costs. Thanks again.
