RO/DI Unit mounting

I just got my Ro/Di unit in and I want to mount it on the wall, but this thing is heavy without even having water in. I don't want to just put it on the wall and watch it fall later. What I was thinking about doing was finding the studs in the wall like I did my plasma and hang it that way.
Im just curious what everyone else does.

Good plan....

Mine is in an unfinished basement, but still attached to wood. Just hanging it on the sheetrock will likely cause it to end up on the floor.

My RO/DI unit has mounting holes.....but they were closer together than 16".
I ended up mounting the unit itself to a 20X20 piece of painted plywood and then was able to span the 16" centers of my wall studs and run screws directly to those. It's very solid. I know they've come a long way with wall anchors....but better to be safe than sorry.

I think that's what I did too, but I'd have to go back down there and look. Either way, I know it's s.crewed into wood. But with some good anchors, it would probably be okay. It's not like there is a lot of vibration or anything.

Im going to try to find the studs, but if I can't I might use some Molly Bolt wall anchors. I believe they can hold up to 50pds each.

they're not that heavy, and the minimal amount of water inside them only adds upto a gallon. i mounted mine like this

the crack you see in the window sill is not from the ro/di unit, it was actually there before.

The weight trully donsn't amount to much. When I feel comfortable that it is anchored good is when I need to open the cartridges for filter change-outs. Sometimes that takes some force.

Sounds like a lot of folks have the same idea here....put up a board across the studs, which will distribute the weight.
