quick question on these devices when they are used do they possible take out so much stuff of the water that you have to add chemicals back into the water beforing adding it to your main tank if so what is it that needs to be added

I don't think they take the trace elements out of the water. Pluw when you do water changes, the salt in the new mix replenishes the tank. HTH

They take every thing out to make PURE water if you have a good one. Only water should evaporate.

If it is a good unit only pure water should be produced and yes things can be added to help your water to buffer properly and adjust to ph. Your salt mix will add trace elements.
