I would use one regardless. Your well water is still going to have things in it that aren't necessarily good for the tank. I'll never use anything but RODI again.

Need, maybe not. Good idea, definetly. You never know whats in your well water and the water source may not always be consistent.

It's usually just called drinking water. Your best bet is to find a grocery store that has a machine to refill the 5 gallon jugs for water dispensers. Make sure that it is RODI though. It's only 39 cents per gallon.
