Can someone honestly tell me if you need to use a DI unit with your RO or not. Have read that use a RO/DI makes it very hard to buffer your water properly and get calcium levels up verses using just a RO. Someone please find the truth. ;)

RO/DI is the way to go.
If you do regular water changes and also add calcium you levels should stay up. I use the RO/DI and have never noticied any problems.
As far as hard to buffer.. When you add salt during changes or make up for evaporation for evaporation you should not need to buffer.
Just my opinion here..

I have Kent Maximma Hi-s RO/DI and I love it. Its got to be the best tank related investment I have ever made.
