RO Question

I have decided to purchase an RO unit, and cannot figure out a couple of things. I understand that they filter the water through numerous membranes.
How does the RO unit discharge the water ?
DO you add water, and it spits out the RO water ?
When they say 35 gallons per day does this mean that you add tap water, throught out the day??
Confused here... can anyone help ??

Mine came with a saddle that sits on the copper tubing supply line. The first time you close the valve all the way it punctures the tubing and you have supply water.
It should also come with a saddle that will sit on your PVC drain line. This is where the waste water from the RO goes.
The last line (blue on mine) is the clean RO/DI water youll use for the tank.
My unit is neatly hung inside the cabinet underneath the kitchen sink where a supply and waste line are easily reachable. HTH
