What is a RO unit? Is it good to have. Does it filter your water when doing water changes.
All I have is Town well water. I know it is treated. Where do I get water or can I use that and clean it. Any Advice. Thanks,

RO's are reverse osmosis water systems. You can either order these on line or simply go to home depot or Lowes where they have a nice selection. It is better yet to buy an RO/DI unit for further clarification. DI means demineralize. These systems give you the purest water and take all the chemicals like chlorine out along with minerals that might otherwise taint your water.
You may spend around $100 initially for a nice unit but it is worth it to have the water at your convenience. If you don't want to invest you can simply go to your local grocery store or whereever they sell purified water and buy water there. The other option is to buy pre-bottled water which really gets expensive.
The nice thing about these units is that water is the best for you and other pets you may have also. It isn't strictly something you would use in your aquariums.
