I just had a RO unit installed in my home, the whole entire house. Is this water just as clean as a single RO unit for aquariums, or do I need to buy a RO unit especially for my setup? New setup: 100 GALLON "SHOW' AQUARIUM WITH A BLUE BACK, 2 WHITE, AND 2 ACTINIC 4 FOOT, 40 WATT LIGHT TUBES,"A-MIRACLE" PL-2000 TRICKLE FILTER COMPLETE WITH BIO BALLS, A VENTURI PROTEIN SKIMMER, AND A SUPREME 700 RETURN PUMP, AN OVERFLOW BOX, AND A PREFILTER, and a HAGEN 800 POWER HEAD FOR ADDITIONAL CIRCULATION. 135 lbs LR, LS, 3 Mushrooms, brain coral, and 2pcs of coral. NO FISH YET. undeceided

Whole house RO? What is the throughput for it? In general, the residence units have lower rejection rates at higher flows. I do not know about commercial units, etc.
Just curious about the flow rate.
RO water is good for your tank, but it would depend on where your whole house RO is installed at, what type of piping you have, etc. If you tee off right after the RO, water should be great. If the RO water runs through your house, your pipes, and so on, the water may not be so great at the far end.

I recommend testing the water for phosphates and silicates. It should be fine to use, unless it is high in either of those. If it's a problem, you could get a Deionization add on and run it through that only for your aquarium use. They are not very expensive $50 or so). I suspect that there is a reservoir or tank for the ro water in the system, and I assume it only goes to the faucets, not the showers. You'll have to make sure the membranes in the system stay current. You might want to invest in a Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) tester or monitor to keep an eye on it.
