ro water

I am just starting up my 180 gallon reef tank and I know that this is going to sound stupid but if a ro unit makes 35 gallons per day, it is going to take me 5 days to fill the tank. How do you guys do it? Maybe I should go to the ocean and get 3-45 gallon drums of seawater and make 45 gallons myself. What do you think?

If your RO unit says 35 gpd - if all is just right you may get that much out of it each day. Temperature and water pressure and quality of tap water all can affect the output from an RO unit.
It'll take awhile to make 180 gals of RO, and mix for a large tank such as yours.
Sounds fun though ;)
Wouldn't suggest running to the ocean for water.

Be patient and fill the tank with the RO water as it is filtered. You will be much happier with the results.
