I have a feeling I have the same one as you and just finished hooking it up yesterday. If your at all inclined mechanically it will not be a problem to hookup. Literaly 3 lines, water in, drain, and DI water out. If you dont feel comfortable with that you can get the faucet adapter which means pretty much no plumbing at all.
Its so far a great unit with great output. Yes the prefilter lasts 6 months according to their paperwork. This also of course depends on your output of water and how bad ur water is starting out. All the other filter are replaced at the year mark except for the stage 4 filter which lasts 2 years approx.
