Rock and Sand from Gulf of Mexico

Can I find rock and sand from the gulf for my tank???

It might be illegal but if not then you need to go out at least 8 miles away from polution.

There's to much pollution that close to shore. You need to go way way out. Others will tell you the same thing. I don't know the laws there but I bet it's illegal to take anything or you may have to get a permit.

I took mine from Clearwater beach about 2ft. off shore. Actually, I had my girlfriend get it for me. It has seemed to be just fine but all of a sudden there is like a red film covering it. I think it is from the frozen shrimp I feed my fish. I don't know if it is against the law to take the sand or not.

The tampabay area actaully has some good sources where rock is aquacultured. Apparently it is quite cheap too.
