Rock Anemone and clown

I purchased a rock anemone on sunday and since then it has slowly moved to the top of my tank where my false perc likes to hang out at. Today I have noticed that the clown is constantly swimming aorund it and quickly swooping into it. I have also noticed that the clown is spitting a little bit of sand at it. Is this a sign of agression or something else? I was under the assumtion that Rock Anemones wont host clowns.

Power heads have hosted clowns in the past. They do not call them clownfish for nothing. Its not common nor is it natural but its not out of the question. Its behavior from your description seems to be typical to what clowns do when they look for something to host them.

they are not normal hosts for clowns it is possible that its trying to host it but if you could I would discourage it.* easier said than done though LOL*
the clown might be trying to defend its part of the tank from the invader to youll have to keep an eye on it to be sure but throwing sand onto the coral isnt a hosting behaviour. If it was food then it is but not the sand.

I have noticed that the anemone has been spitting out shells of pods. Possible the clown is picking up pods and feeding the anemone? I will keep an eye on whats going on. Possible post a pic later to show whats going on.
