rock placement

Im adding live rock to my tank,Can i lay it directly on the sand-bed or do i have to move the sand around and place the rock directly on the bottom of the tank? Thanks

Live rock can be place directly to the sand or glass surface. If you have the right mix of sand, some creatures from our rock will take up new home in the sand. If you leave the tank glass bottom get coral pollups. They will grow a blanket over the glass and its cool looking. Some people do a 50/50 glass and sand. Remember glass is just another hard surface for algae and corals to grow on.

I use some cut off 1 1/2" pvc pipe or some small pieces of lava rock to keep it off the bottom.... and then a couple well placed power heads to keep the water flowing around the rock so no waste gets built up under it...
