hey eveyone I was just wondering what kind of rock structure/powerhead flows work the best together.
(high rock vs. low rock base, and how powerheads are arranged)
thanks

Lots of possibilities flyinbrian,
As long as you have good water circulation behind, in front of, and within the stack of live rock - it's not all that important "HOW" you do it - just that you "DO" it !
You'll probably get a ton of different opinions on the best way for rock formations and water flows - but as long as you don't have areas of trapped detritus, provide proper water movement for the corals you choose, and allow water to move from the lower parts to the upper parts of the tank, and allow for some decent surface water agitation - you'll be good to go !

A guy at my lfs has told me that since I have a CA300 pump running my return I should have more than enough water flow in my 55. Is this true, or should I invest in a powerhead or two?

i am not sure what gph a ca300 is but for water flow you want to go about 10 times your tank volume a hour so you want 550 gph and then you have to consider dead spots so either way a maxi jet1200 300gph wouldnt hurt for sure and they are cheap <img src="graemlins//urrr.gif" border="0" alt="[urrr]" />

I believe it rates at almost 700gph, but it is a return so the flow is only going in one direction. If I decide to add the powerhead, should I face it in the opposite direction? or set it behind the LR in my tank to push out the stuff that settles back there?
