put out some bait.....they will take back to any nest you think they may have. I lived in an OLD farm house many years ago and field mice came with the territory. (HATED every second of it :scared: )
Or call a pest control that maybe specializes in rodents??

If you use poison, and they die in the walls, then, need I say what the smell will be like?

Yes, if your kittens eat the poison or a poisoned mouse they can get sick. I don't let me hubby use poison since we have dogs. And those sticky traps are just cruel. We had a mouse running around with one stuck to his head one time. Icky! Use the peanut butter on the traps but dust the pb with flour. They love it. Also if one does die in your wall, I've heard to put some charcoal briquettes next to the wall for a few days and it will neutralize the smell.

oh, yes, NO poison since kitty is around.
If there a lots of them, then yes, the smell will not be pleasant. But if there are a few, you probably won't even notice.....well not a lot and not for long.
This sounds like a job for your landlord. He/she can have a rodent control person come in an set effective traps.
oh.........this brings back memories

ohh yah, my friends mom used one of those because they didnt want to kill it, just wanted it out of their house. so anywyas they find it the next day alive, but obviously stuck, and the mom had some little kids that were super excited about seeing the mouse. well, she goes to pull the mouse off and it was soooo sticky that it pulled all the arms and legs off the mouse. needless to say, it died. the kids were horrified. it was pretty bad, and sad
