Royal Gramma compatibility with crabs

We just recently got a pretty little Royal Gramma (Princess Gretta) for our relatively new 42g. We already have tons of Scarlet Hermits and Electric Blue Hermits, and we were planning to get an Emerald Crab or two, but someone just told us that all basslets are crab-killers... especially Royal Grammas! Is this true? I had never heard it before, but we would take her back if we thought she would kill all of our crabs.
Has anyone had any bad experiences with Royal Grammas?
:happyfish Thanks for sharing.

I have a Royal Gamma in my 55 with many crabs and no problems . I never heard anything about them attacking crabs either .

I HAVE actually heard they are notorious for it, but i think its really smaller shrimp they go for. Never have had a problem with them though. Just beware of small shrimp when Gramma gets full sized

I don't think you need to worry about hermits, but regular crabs are probably at risk. The only real evidence I have is that I used to have a purple psuedo, added a sally lightfoot one day, and the crab went missing shortly thereafter. The bicolor psuedo I have now is also very good at picking off little things that stow away on live rock. He just ate some sort of little star fish today. You do also need to be worried about smaller shrimp. Personally, I'd keep the royal gramma.

Thanks so much! I'm really glad because I love Royal Grammas, and I had already grown so attached to Princess Gretta. I'll keep my eyes open, but we won't stress-out about it.
We appreciate the input! :joy:
