royal gramma getting old?

I wasnt sure if I should post this in the Disease section, but I thought it was just more of a general fish question. My royal gramma always used to hide in this one hole in my LR and never come out until I fed them. Then I would just see his head as he poked at the food, usually only got like 2 pieces, so i figured he was living off the LR. Well anyways he is out of the hole now and just lays in this one corner. It looks bad, like he is just laying on his side. He only moves to eat a little bit. I thought he was dying, so i tested my water and everything was perfect. Well hes been doing this for over a month. My dad had a freshwater tank and the betta he had in it did this same thing after my dad had him for awhile. Is it possible the fish is just old? Any ideas?

Just some general thoughts really, but how long have you had the royal gramma? A well kept fish can live for over 10 years probably longer. Also it is good that he is eating. Are any other fish in the tank bothering him? And do you see any signs of disease on him?

thats the thing, ive never seen any sign of disease, hes never been bothered by another fish, and hes never stopped eating. he seem just like a perfectly healthy fish, just sits on the bottom of the tank.

I won't get to deep into this because i haven't purchased mine yet. Keep a close eye on him often over the next few days just to see how he is interacting with the community. Does he swim around at all? I wish you the best they are really cool fish. :)

How big is he? Is he full size for a gramma and was he full size when you bought him? Maybe you can go from their to figure out if maybe he is old
