Is it safe to put a rubber band in a saltwater tank? I just want to use one to attach some lettuce to a piece of LR for my shrimp and other various inverts and want to make sure it doesnt leach any toxins into the tank or something like that.

+1 wouldnt be a problem. the govt actually tried dumping tires into the ocean in the past to build reef in the past.

No problems as others stated, but it will dry out and break fairly quickly in the saltwater. A simple lettuce clip is better IMO ~ not too expensive either as I recall.

I use rubberbands to put seaweed and nori in my tank all the time. I feel it is much more natural for the fish than a lettuce clip.
