Do i need to run carbon all the time or only sometimes? And when i get my wetdry setup do i need my emporer 400 still? I only use that to run carbon all the time. Thanks

Your wet/dry will be more than sufficient to replace the emperor. I would use the emperor only to run carbon like you said and only run it once in awhile. When you run carbon, don't leave it in the filter for more than a few weeks, a month at the longest. If you leave it in there too long it will begin to become poisonous as it becomes saturated. I only run carbon when I feel there may be a problem. It does absorb chemicals that you dose in your tank and so IMO it is best not to run carbon continuously unless that is your only form of filtration, ie. canister filter systems.
