On my camera before the flash goes off a orange light comes on and then the flash goes off this is only on night shots though whats the orange light for?

It is either the red-eye reduction mode or an auto focus assist.
You're camera doesn't have an eye on the screen anywhere does it? If it does, then the red-eye mode is on and you should turn it off.
If not, then it might be the auto focus assist coming into play.......that little light helps the camera pick up on some contrast to help it focus in a low lighting situation.

ok I just looked it up its a auto-focus assist Is this a good feature to have my macro mode also says 2"-7" is this good for a macro mode on a digi?
