MR, Well let me tell you that I am by no means a good photographer as well. However I can tell you that I am extremely pleased with the camera. And yes it is very easy to use. Turn it on, flip out the display screen and push the silver button. That is all that you have to do to take a picture. I have found on occassion that the flip out screen can be very helpful, as opposed to having the display on the camera.
It also has all the bells and whistles that more advanced photographers may use. I still have not used them, because I have no idea what an apperature is.
Then as far as loading the pictures on the computer you just plug in the camera and select what pictures you want to save. It usually takes less then 2 minutes to save all of the pictures in the camera.
So in conclusion. Am I telling you how to spend your money. NO. Am I prefossional photographer. No. Am I a stupid idiot who can point and shoot with a camera. Yes. Am I happy with the G3. Yes.
I can tell you that I did some research on digital cameras before I bought mine and most of the research seemed to point that the G3 was a good camera. When I was looking for cameras I was looking in the 300 - 400 price range. I ended up spending more for the G3. However that was some months ago so you should be able to find it in your price range.
www.dpreview.com This is a site that Rye recommends for comparing cameras. Sorry if the link does not work, but you can atleast get the address.

I would be interested to see what you eventually purchase.
