I'm looking into putting corals into my 55g. Its currently FOWLR and has been up and running since 10/2006. I have 2 clarki clowns (mated pair) and 2 black lyrtail chromis and power compact lighting. I know how many fish I can have, but is there any kind of rule of thumb on how much coral you can have in a tank?
Thanks.

Not really. I suppose it depends on how often you want to have to keep up with maintenance. Obviously, if there are a lot of corals in a tank they're going to use up calcium and other elements pretty quickly, forcing you to do more frequent water changes and maybe even add suplements. Also, some species don't work well together or get very large, meaning you have to pay attention to where you place things and consider the effect their growth is going to have on everything else.
