Ok well I've decided to go ahead with my 1st salt water set up this weekend. I'm going to wait on my 45g since I don't have the $$$ right now. I'm just going to setup a 10g which will act as a med tank when I get my larger one setup. But heres what I the help with. I'm going to use 2 10g tanks I have laying around to set this up. One will be the show tank the other the sump. So I'm going to drill one of them (cross your fingers). How big should the whole be and what size conector will I need on the whole. Its going to be a simple gravity over flow to start w/not concerned w/noise at 1st may add a stand pipe later. Which will fall into my sump. I am going w/an ecosystem type filter in my sump which will be set up like the pic bellow. With this should I put live rock in were the bio balls are aswell or just go w/the basic method? Also what size return will I need can I just use one of the power heads I have laying around since it's such a small tank?

I would recommend you set up one (future sump/refugium) with the sand and calupera /marine plants first. the idea is to make sure you always have the caulpera/plants ahead of the bio load on your tanks.

Beaslbob. Here is some constructive critisizm. You don't have to quote every thread that you reply to. You were the first reply. Who else do you think people think you are replying to?
Daniel. Your setup sounds good to go. your ten gallon won't supply much nutrients to the sump so don't be surprised if the plants either die or grow very little.

Be careful drilling the tank... The bottom is probably tempered glass and will shatter if you drill. If it isn't then you are fine, but either way you would have had to change out the tempered glass anyway. Just be careful when you are doing it.
