Hello everyone!,
I have a 125 gal FOWLR that has had a 2 foot Hawiian Dragon Moray in it for 3 years and a 7 inch Koran Angel thats been in it for 6 months. Yesterday I added a 10 inch Violatin Lion fish. The acclimation process went well, and she hasnt breathed hard at all or any major signs of stress. This morning I noticed a bit of her slime coat coming off around the dorsal fins. It is a very small amount, less than what would fill a bottlecap. Her eyes look clear, and her red colors are very bright. Ive had Lions do this before in times of stress, so Im leaving the lights off, and Im not going to try to get her to eat yet. Does anyone have any pointers on how to get her through this stressful time that I may not know about? I mostly collect triggers and other aggressives, and this is the first time Im attempting a Lionfish in this tank that is so large. Is the stress coat loss normal when they are being transported? Also, how do they normally behave? Is sitting between chunks of liverock perfectly still normal for such a large fish? Thanks in advance! -John

I can answer your rock question: it's perfectly normal for lions to sit or even lay on the bottom of the tank, most species of lions are naturally lazy(and nocturnal) esp. fu manchus and other small ones

i love the lion fish i had a large one in my 75 and he wold just sit on the rocks all day it was great i could watch him all the time the only way you cold get him off of them was to feed him or if a smaller fish came to close he was a good fish i lost him when i moved my tank to a new home
but any way i think yours will be good keep a eye on him make shure he eats he will be a good adition to your tank:D :D
