My 2 month old angel fish (RUDY) was found dead today when I got home from work

Poor little guy...
In a year and a half, he is my first casualty. My water levels are good (although Nitrates are a bit high).
Yesterday he was acting weird by staying in one spot and not swimming around at all (very unlike him) and today he is gone.
My girlfriend is very upset cause she got to pick the fish out, and considered it hers :)
Oh well.. Im gonna test the tank for a few weeks, do some water changes, and try again :)

What kind of angel was it? How high are your nitrates? It could have been anything and jumping to bombarding the tank with antibiotics may cause even more grief.

It was a Flame Angel..
I noticed my Tang has a small infection on his lower body also.
It's a red circle.
But, I don't have a hospital tank, and I was warned not to treat my main tank cause it kills the good bacteria.
Is there any treatment I can use that would be safe for a show tank?
My bio load is very close to zero, cause it's a 75 fish only, and I only have 2 average sized fish in there...
Thanks for the help :)

If you have no LR or LS, reef creatures, inverts...only fish, than you can treat the tank. Obviously you have a problem going with the tang also showing signs of illness. I would suggest looking into the purchase of a UV sterializer. Though this is not as effective on bacterial infections, which appears to be what you are dealing with, it is very good for parasites, and, generally keeping the negetive biology down in our tanks.
Now, as for treatment, antibotics are in order. I use Maracyn and Maracyn2 with good results. Package incerts claim not to have negetive impact on good bacteria. These meds also have vit supplements which I think helps out with treating the fish during times of diesase.

I know how you feel guys, I love my two fish tanks, I spend more time worrying about them sometimes than I do my girlfriend. She gets jelious, but only when something is going wrong. I have a 55 a 75 in my room and I just sit and watch them, they are only FW though so they are not as vibrant as a SW tank but soon I will have my in wall tank and that will be well worth the wait. Hope you get the bacteria out. I just had a mass killing in my tank and my favorite fish was a victim, he got beat up pretty bad but I got him out and in to a seperate tank and he seems to be recovering well.
