Safely Removing Coral off Rock

I just bought a piece of acropora from my LFS and it is attached to a half oval piece of fake rock. The rock looks hollowed out and there is some type of blue plastic in there with a cap on it. I want to remove the coral off this rock. How do I do it? I do not want to injure the coral.

I wouldn't bother with it myself, just hide the base. Otherwise.. you could try to very carefully chip most of the base off... or .. snap the acropora off at the base and if all went well with time you would have two of them...one still being on the rock you don't like.

I have tried putting it every. It doesnot fit. It just sticks out like a sore thumb. There is no way for me to take it off then.

Should I try snapping it at the base or would that be to risky? Could it possible die if I did that?
Help!! It looks horrible.

anything is possible but when I frag my acroporas I just snap a branch off and glue it to a rock- no problems so far. IMO there is always more danger of an acro dieing from having the wrong conditions in terms of water flow, lighting, and perameters than there is from fragging.

so how do you frag it? And when you do, do you just snap one piece off? Do you use super glue gel to glue it to the rock?
Any one else have any ideas. Can I possibly somehow break the rock?
