Please help me identify what's happening here. A few months ago a small perfectly circular sore showed up on one side but healed on it's own. It looked like it would be a worm hole. It came back with a vengence and now white spots are showing up mainly on the sore side with just a couple on the other. The tank is in hypo for about 2 months. The nitrates are high because my skimmer is useless in hypo however I do a 20% change ever week on my 150 gallon fish only. I'm including a picture.

I believe the white spots are lymphocystis. Why have you been in hypo for two months? Way too long for a marine fish to be hypo-ed. Did you have ich?

My tank broke out with ich when I put in new fish so I went to hypo and purchased all the fish I wanted so I could ride it out. The fish seem fine but without enough salinity my skimmer is useless so therefore my nitrates are much higher than usual. I also have green algae that I'm fighting. I'm new to this and am researching like crazy but there are so many opinions of how to combat ich, green algae, you name it.

Also do you know of a good medication that I can dip the sailfin in versus a QT? Or one that can do the whole tank?

Lymphocystis is not a disease that you treat with meds or QT. Here is a link with info. Could the hole in the side be due to aggression?
