Sailfin Tang

What I did was get one of those herb mashing bowls, and mashed up the garlic then added a little water to get more juices out, whatever you can do along those lines

What size tank are you planning to add him to? Hope not the 29g. I would not add a damaged, stressed tang to my tank without being able to QT it first.

I went to the LFS and picked up the scissor tail goby. Im going to wait till next week to see how the sailfin is doing. Would anything grow over where the eye was? im worried that all the stuff inside could be more exposed

Bummers for the sailfin but the eye socket would just get covered by skin but youre most likely going to have to giv him like nutrition and vitamins so it could heal better

Do you have an extra tank around? I would definitely quarantine this fish. You can add some of your live rock to add biological bacteria to the tank.

NO. He's full of crap. Unless he's refurring to he will die.

I have to agree. I think the LFS guy is just trying to get it out of there at this point to the first taker. If you can help the fish, I would do it, if you are uncomfortable trying to repair the sailfin, I don't think I would try as you could end up being overly concerned and end up stressing the fish out (the old saying, babying it to death). I think you would do fine, but you have to be confident in your husbandry as well.

The 20 long will work. The guy is not correct. The tang will still grow.

You need to cycle the tank. You can use water from water changes and the media from your DT and build some kind of structure out of pvc piping that it can hide if it gets stressed. Or some people but a fake cave, or coal. You can use some lr out of your dt to help get it established but then take it out. You don't want any lr/ls incase you have to treat the sailfin.
