Salinity and hardness in new tank

I'm starting a new small tank. I've got live sand that I put with "Real Ocean Water" that I bough. I put the water and Live coral sand in the tank yesterday. It was cloudy, but was clear by morning. I've got my fiters and stuff running and was told this should start cycling. Today, I added some live rock and a hydrometer. Should I bother doing any testing now, or wait a week or so? I put the hydrometer in and it's the swinging needle kind. It's pegged at the top. I assume I have to much salt and thats why the needle is floating to it's maximum on the scale. Should I even bother testing or messing with the salinity while it's cycling? I assume you add more RO water to "lessen" the salt concentration to lower the salinity? What about water hardness? Is that an issue that I should test for? Anything else I can do while I wait for nature to take it's course?
Thanks!

Well " real ocean water " would have a salinity of around 34 pp, SG 1.025. Best to keep it around there thue cycle so the proper bactirea can breed. You can lower it by adding pure water.
