Sally molted

Our sally lightfoot molted last night. The kids thought she was dead. I removed the shell mainly because I wanted to look at it then threw it away. Should I remove the shells or leave them in the tank when the Sally or the Emerald molt? 29 gal biocube.

depends if the cleanup crew gets to it or not. If they just leave it there then take it out.

They leave their molts out in the open as a defense. The molt acts as a decoy to allow the crab time to hide and let their fresh shell harden. I usually leave the molt in until I see the sally out. While I have no predators, it just feels better to do..silly, I know.
