Salt Molly=Dwarf Lion food??

K, I know the rule of no freshwater food for Lions(unless possibly gut loaded) My question is this--In my other salt tank I have mollies acclimated and eating saltwater food. Now, they are having babies and they are doing the same... Would these fry as they grow now be considered an acceptable food source for my dwarf Lion in my other salt tank?? From what I have read it has to do with the nutrient levels in the freshwater fish but would this not change those levels???
Thanks for the input!!!

yes you are very correct.the mollies that you have adapted to sw are perfectly fine for your lion however i dont reccomend them as the total diet for your fish.i do reccomend other foods as well such as prepared foods and frozens to ensure your fish are getting their full nutrients.as vit suppliments i use selcon and garlic extreme added directly to the tank to ensure all of your fish get the full benefits.

oh yes almost forgot mollies are brackish as juvenile and full marine as adults this is why they are perfectly fine as food ..they are not a fresh water species at all

Sure, once in a while is fine..but not a regular part of their diet. This is a very controversial topic on this forum; some folks feel no FW food should ever be given to a lion. IMO, as a rare treat, its fine. The nutrition may not be there, but it doesn't hurt anything. The real problem is, again IMO, that watching lions hunt is so fascinating that feeders become a big part of the diet. This all assumes that the lion is a good eater of the SW stuff he should eat. A lot of folks will disagree with me and I respect their opinions. But I let my kids have occasional ice cream and they are all very healthy.
