I just purchased this 58 gallon tank and stand and plan to go out on a limb and attack the idea of running a salt water aquarium .
Being that I'm used to my 2 1/2 gallon bow tank for my kids and need all the help i can get on buying the filters , light etc etc , i know the cost of running a SW tank is up there but can do it in stages .
My main goal is to run some clown fish (Nemo's) for my kids and whatever fish and coral go with them without the hassle of fighting and low maintenance.
Any help would be greatly appreciated , thanks in advance.

first off you can only have 2 clowns in a tank, no more or they will fight.
the clowns need to be a mated pair or else they will fight (ask your fish store they will help you out)
in a 58 gallon you have lots of options. but price is going to be expensive to buy and maintain a 58 gallon. probably somewhere around 1K for all the right stuff....
some fish i suggest to go in a peaceful mixed reef tank (thats coral and fish)
flame angel
smaller wrasses
pygmy angel
fire fish
small gobys
basically if you see a fish you like just ask here and we will give the thumbs up or down
for coral, you have lots of options, basically the better lighting you have, the more corals you can keep
first things first, dont buy any fish untill your tank is cycled and prepared for the fish
read this all the way through and you will get a lot of questions answered

Very useful thread and thanks for the reply . Money isn't a issue but i don't want to over do it and tap into my kids college funds , maybe i need help on choosing the right type of filter and brand and the same goes for the rest of the equipment that goes with it.
With paying $100 for the tank and stand and top i've heard i'm ahead of the game in the budget department.

for 100$ you got a nice deal!
As for low maintenance, just dont pack the tank full or corals (especially ones that need to be fed) and avoid a few other things and that'll keep maintenance down some.
