saltwater sitting in sump

i hooked up my sump a few days ago and realized that the pump was too powerful for the overflow (cause the stupid overflow company overrated it
) and the ball valve makes the pump hekka loud when i reduce flow. anyways...now i have 15 gallons of water sitting in my sump for like a week until i can order a new pump. would it be ok sitting like that? nothing is in the sump cause i didnt hook it up fully (cause of the problem) so the water is by itself.

It will be fine, but before you run it through the system again, just double check the salinity...

I often turn mine off for extended periods of time if I am traveling........ (it is a big basement contraption that always worries me if away)...........%%
Just be sure to match temperature, salinity from any evaporation like said etc. when restarting........

Not to be an a@@ but, I wonder what it is about your setup that makes you worrie.
Do you have power heads in the sump to keep water moving while it is shut down?

sounds good

now i just have to wait for my new pump

I did a little testing today, and while everything was so-so. I wouldn't wait on me to build the stockman.
What I did was quiet but it seemed to be a bit on the.........labored side. I am also not able to recreate you plumbing. Distance and the such. So build the stockman and see how it goes. Plus, while testing it you will be running it. The water in the sump that is. Making it better. Just watch your evap.

Yea you can always build it to run more GPH and then run less through it later on. Since you have the time and a pump to push more then what you want, I would def build it now.
I can post a pic if you would like of what I did tomorrow in the original thread.

When away, I add a couple old Maxi-Jets 1200's to the sump.........
My worries come from pushing around 1000 gph up to my first floor display tank from the basement.........I keep the sump level at one to not overflow the DT in event of some unforeseen issue occurred..(.Like spilling water on the wife's solid white oak floor, a fate worse than any I could think of when she would see that happen)......
This low sump water level makes topping off an issue when away. I must top off every day. My house-tank sitter only needs to check the tank this way too......
It is just easier and more worry free to just give my big pump a few or days off now and them....Heck the first year I was set up, I did not even have one. My tank can make it several days without my sump-fuge being connected.......
