Sand bed depth

I'll be changing the cc to sand and wondered what depth the sand bed should be.

I use a 3 to 3 1/2 inches for my sandbed. If you want a deep Sandbed then the depth would be 6 inches.

Personally I prefer just a couple of inches, about 80 pounds should do it in a 75 gallon tank. If you want the DSB look then you can add more. You can also plan on adding a refugium and just put a DSB in there instead of the main tank, like I did.

Yes I agree DSB in a main tank just dont look good and it takes away from the amount of swimming space you have. I would just do around 2 to 3 inches. I have 3 1/2 like arkey and like it though most fill it up to the top of black plastic that goes around the bottom of the tank. Then put the DSB in a refurgium.

I have 2 - 1/2 inches in my tank. I definately wouldn't go less than that.
