sand bed question

quick question.
How deep should your sand bed be? What are the problems with a sand bed that is too deep/shallow?

Joe, i've only been at it for a year and a 4"+ is recommended. Helps with natural biological filtration etc. I'm between 4-5 inches.

in order to have a dsb you should have around 4 inches or more depth. if you dont and you only have a fish only system there arent really any problems. you may have to siphon clean from time to time. but you dont get the benifits of a dsb.

It is a Fish only with Live Rock. I plan to add some inverts soon though. Right now I think I have around 4 inches.
