Sand bed ?

I'm setting up a 300 gallon tank with a 75 gallon sump. How much sand do I need. The tank will be crushed coral. Also what should I put in the sump?

Why are you going with crushed coral? Just curious
If you're not using the sand bed for denitrifying or to house certain fish or inverts (pistol shrimp, sand sifting goby, etc) and it's purely for ascetic purposes, the choice is really up to you as to how much you want to use. Just know that crushed coral can be harder to keep clean than sand and will limit certain choices for inverts, including corals (I wouldn't want to put a Goniopora or Tracyphyllia in crushed coral substrate)

I have always used crushed coral. Just a personal preference
Ah, okay. As long as you know the "risk," for lack of a better word. If you've been using it and it works for you, no reason to change, I sure wouldn't. To give you a little idea, for my 180G RR tank, I've had to use about 140lbs of live sand to get a 2" think sand bed around the rocks.

I like the look of crushed coral, and have contemplated doing it in one of my tanks, but I'm so scared. Not to get this off topic, but how do you keep yours clean? How often do you need to clean it?

Gravel vac every 4-6 weeks. Attached to my gravel vac is a pump to clean more thoroughly. I also have an under gravel tray. I've never had a problem
