IMO, they are not all that good to have. Some do even have a preference for substrate type (eg silicious versus carbonate) and particle size is very important. They burrow at an angle, and so you really won't see much with them. They are effectively sand sifters in a manner similar to sand sifting cukes, but there is a reason they are not commonly kept in tanks. Long term success is not great.
