Sand Sharks

Hey, Im looking to get a sand shark for my future tank. Anyways, I was wondering what they won't eat. I was hoping to get a few clown fish, angel fish, lobster, crabs, and some coral however I was wondering how aggressive the sharks are. If they will end up eating all my fish or if I will be ok as long as I feed them.

why do you want a sand shark anyways? why not a bamboo shark or cat shark, they require around 180 gallons.

hahaha.....no! No shark in a tank less then 200gal. A 300gal for a sand shark is still a little small

Well, maybe I won't go for a sand shark... Im really new to this and I kinda figured they were the smallest sharks. It looks like im gonna have to find one. Then i'll have to look for 200 gal tanks.
First of all... I've never priced tanks. Im kinda hoping they will only cost around 200 for a 200 gal. As far as cleanup and whatnot... how hard are they to clean at that size? I was really hoping to go 100-150 gal for a tank but the main reason I even want one is for a shark. Btw, can I have coral and reefs and stuff around a shark or do they need a kind of open tank.

For a 200gal with stand and canopy cost about $750 online at glasscages.com (about 750). How hard is the tank to clean? Not that hard. You will need awesome filteration! And no reefs for sharks unless its a HUGE HUGE tank. So your tank should be free of rocks(u should have a sump to put rocks and algae in for filteration). Like i said before 100-150gal is too small thats like you living in your bedroom for your whole life

I think bamboo sharks are the smallest you can get. And at some sites such as (Live Aquaria..) you can buy bamboo shark eggs. They adjust to your tank and you much better, its like your their mom/dad lol.

yup thats right F1shMan, but babys grow. A 200gal is suitable for a banded cat shark and you could keep a baby banded cat shark in a 125gal+ for more then a year.

whoa, whoa, whoa. Hatching a shark can be very difficult. It can hatch with infections and sometimes not healthy. feeding a new born is a challenge! A hard challenge, sometimes you will get lucky though.

180 Gal. Wide72 x 24 x 25$3501,2
You think that would be big enough? I could try hatching the sharks myself, that way 180 gal might be just enough..... maybe??? The only reason I say that is the biggest one up is 240 gal for 500 bucks.

well, req what about for a smaller tank like 200 gal. I guess 350 really isn't that much though if I do go with the 180. A 2700 would be REALLY nice...but I don't have the money for that size of one right now.

:nope: IMO, you will not succeed with that tank and need to really sit down and think/research what you want. You are trying to have something of everything and it just doesn't usually work, IMO. If you want the shark, set up an aggressive shark tank. If you want a reef, set up a reef tank. But aggressive shark reef tanks tend not to work, IMO. Water quality becomes an issue, compatibility becomes an issue, space becomes an issue. IMO, you need to decide what you really want and stick with it.
