Eating the sand will cause the sand 2 l0se its effectiveness at creating a natural self sustaining 0cean envit0rment. If the w0nt take him back ask t0 trade it 0r try t0 at least sell/trade/give t0 an0ther h0bbiest

I feel sand shifting stars are good. They do exactly as their name suggest and move the sand around. It should help your aquarium by eating detritus.

they arent sand shifters.. they are sand sifters, so no they dont do their "job" by moving the sand, if im wrong feel free to correct me but as far as i know its a sand sifter, they sift through the sand and eat whats in it.

i had one in my 37 gallon reef tank for a short while before returning it.. i couldnt have lived with myself knowing it died of starvation if it came to that. i wouldnt even consider getting one for my 125. get a different kind of star that can live in your tank and can be fed.
everyone has made a mistake somewhere/sometime in this hobby its what you do once you know what youve done wrong... its all about "when you know better, you do better" of course its better to do the research first but if you do what most do (myself included) and purchase without proper research its up to you to do what you have to for the well being of the animal involved.
