Sand Sifter

Our last one was a jumper, he ended up in the overflow and I think I stressed him to death trying to catch him....he died. This one however have not shown any jumping behaviour and we have had no problems with him and the other fish. Him and the Scooter Blennie actually hang out a lot!

If you "must" have a sandsifter, be aware that the available substrate area won't support one for very long at all (when they "sift", they're actually stripping the substrate of microfauna). SO, be sure to get one that is eating prepared foods, or be ready to wean the fish onto prepared foods or the fish will starve.
Some folks bury small "piles" of mysis or other foods in the substrate for them to sift out, however, one needs to be sure they are eaten, lest they trash the water quality.

I have a Small Diamond Head Gobie and a large Yellow Head one in my 125 I also have 2 1/2 in of live sand they keep my tank extra clean but they also eat Mysis and macro algae I have not seen any changes in my tank as far as quality and they are all fed good but if you have a small tank say like 30 gal I suggest waiting until you have plenty of dirty sand for it to clean and only get 1 small one also some people say they jump mine have never because I have plenty of tank mates to keep them amused I guess.
