sand sifting sea star

Hey what do you think of this. I just got it today from an on-line store.
I think it might be to big for my tank due to his size, but boy is he cool. He actually burries him self in the sand. I put him in the tank and I turned around, he was gone.

I think they are neat, but its something that I would never put in a reef tank, they will deplete the sandbed of much needed infauna that make a sandbed healthy.
Probably not what you wanted to hear huh?

I am surprised to hear that since it was sold as a reef cleaner package????
Do they move around much Tom?

They will pretty much scavenge all the live long day, slowly. Problem is they will eat any pod they come across, and these pods help keep the sandbed turned over and help breakdown detritus down in to smaller bits that the sandbed can proccess. Eventually they will seek out all the pods in the sandbed and you will be left without the pods to help keept it stirred.
