Sand Stirrers

What can we put in a 180 gal FO to stir sand & keep substrate clean. We have 2 niger triggers, a picasso, & porcupine puffer among the population. So far we have a 2 1/2"green hermit & a chocolate chip starfish, but they're not doing the job. Any suggestions?

I have a fairly descent size red leg hermit crab and he's always "sucking" on the crushed coral substrate. Also two (don't remember which ones) snails and they have visited the bottom from time to time.
