Nassaraus Snails are great for sand cleaning. As for fish, Sleeper Gobies will sift sand. There several other types of Gobies and Blennies that do a good job with sand. Depending on your tank size Fighting Conches are good also. From what I've read, stay away from Sand Shifting Starfish unless you have a 100 gallon plus deep sand bed.

I would get a sleeper goby. They work great and are fun to watch.
