To get rid of the dust all you have to do is pre cure the sand in a tub, bucket or something with your old tank water from a water change. There have been threads about it from Bang Guy and Kip, two very well respected members.

cure it dont rinse it.
rinsing only washes away some of the fine particles. which are as desired as neccessary. just some of us find it a nuance. i personally dont. i cure mine and if i am cycling, i dont worry about curing it since the curing will finish before the cycle and tehn you wont have to worry about it after that
southdown= 3 to 4 bucks for 50 lbs of dry sand,
lfs is 20 lbs for 32 bucks? if this is live sand ok, if not you will still have the dusting.
I use any aragonite based and i always use the cheapest, since it IS the same stuff. in fact it is even from the same place. there is only 1 aragonite sand mine so you do the math.

You just need to make sure it doesnt say "dolemite" anywhere on the bag. Some companies used such things as crushes oyster shell and cal it aragonite. Theyre both a form of calcium, its just that dolemite isnt the correct form for what is needed. There was a article in TFH that had a review, and they state most true aragonite is the same, but some add silicates, such as quartz, to take up more space and therefore increasing profits.

really 120 lbs? that seems like it is n aweful lot considering there should be about 60 lbs of live rock also. imo. can someone else verify that amount? i am in my first week of my cycle and i have 20 lbs of arigalive, 15 lbs of aragonite, and thats about it. i have 50 lbs of playsand in the basement so if i ned more its no problem. thats if i can mix both together? also did someone say that if i add precured live sand that it is not that dusty? cause i add both live and dead and my tank still hasent settled. its been about 4 days and it still looks like someone put milk in my tank lol. thanks alot everyone. i know there has been some one ou there thats mixxed play sand and arogonite. oh by the way i got this stuff at walmart. it says it packaged by oldcastle but doest hink if its caribean or not. just says play sand.

Sounds like your sand got sucked up into the filter/pump. I takes awile for it to settle but it will. It may be good to turn off your pumps until it settles or make sure you have some filter floss covering your pump intake. Keep cleaning the floss until your tank settles down.
Don't worry about the cloudy tank. It WILL go away it just takes time. Probably 2 days. :happyfish
