How many ponds of sand should i get for a 55g tank??

tank length (in inches) x width(in inches) x desired depth(in inches) x .0579 = lbs sand

A nice 2+ inch layer would be about 60-80 pounds, or at least 2 40 pound bags.

I went with 40lbs of PlaySand and 30lbs of LiveSand gave me 2 to 2 1/2 inches across the bottom.
